The woman accused of killing the son of a former politician by her culpable driving will fight the charges in the ACT's higher court.

Angela Lea Smith, 33, pleaded not guilty in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday to culpable driving causing the death of Jozef Stefaniak, speeding, drug driving and failing to give assistance after a crash.
Police have alleged in court documents tendered on an earlier occasion that Ms Smith swapped with her boyfriend Kane David Kell and got into the driver's seat of the white BMW only minutes before it crashed on January 2.
It's alleged Ms Smith was speeding along Yarra Glen in Hughes when she lost control of the car and it rolled at least twice, throwing her passenger Mr Stefaniak, 24, from the moving vehicle.
Mr Stefaniak, the son of long time ACT politician and former leader of the Canberra Liberals Bill Stefaniak, died from head injuries.
Police further allege Ms Smith and Mr Kell, 21, fled the scene of the accident without helping Mr Stefaniak.
They were both arrested the following day, and Ms Smith taken to hospital.
The documents suggest Ms Smith had the drug ice in her system while she was driving.
Ms Smith on Monday also pleaded guilty to several related charges of not wearing a seatbelt, being an unlicensed driver and using an uninsured and unregistered car.
The culpable driving charge to which Ms Smith has pleaded not guilty to is strictly indictable and so must be heard in the ACT Supreme Court.
The other matters will travel to the higher court with the culpable driving charge, together with the matters Ms Smith pleaded guilty to on Monday.
The court heard that prosecutors required six weeks to prepare the brief of evidence.
The case is expected to be committed for trial in the ACT Supreme Court at her next appearance on April 9.
Ms Smith remains in custody.
