Police and victims of crime believe body-worn video cameras could effectively capture the blood, fear and destruction officers often witnessed at scenes of domestic violence.

But the Australian Federal Police said while it frequently trialled new technologies, body-worn cameras were not in the pipeline for front-line officers.
The agency previously confirmed it was exploring use of the cameras, which were generally fixed to a police officer's lapel or hat, for "certain AFP operations".
An ACT Policing spokeswoman said there would be benefits to filming victim statements in domestic and family disputes.
Territory police can currently record audio of victim statements at the scene of domestic violence incidents.
The spokeswoman said officers faced many challenges as they gathered evidence at the scene.
Victims might not want to speak to police, provide a statement, or allow photos of their injuries.
"In some instances, there may not be the physical evidence to show someone has been assaulted.
"There may not be any other witnesses or independent witnesses to corroborate the version of events."
NSW became the first state to introduce legislation that allowed video statements from the victim and video footage from the scene of crimes to be used as evidence in court last year.
The ACT government announced last month it would strengthen laws to make it easier to prosecute domestic violence offenders.
One of those provisions would allow prosecutors to use family violence victims' first audio statement to police as evidence at trial.
ACT Victims of Crime commissioner John Hinchey said the cameras could be useful for documenting evidence, but said he would like to see how a NSW rollout of the technology
"The value is in being able to pursue charges using the evidence that is captured audio-visually, including the victim's injuries, their demeanour, and immediate reactions."
Mr Hinchey said the technology would allow victims to make a statement without having to go to a police station and allow "better and more accurate evidence to be taken immediately".
"If ACT Policing could use audiovisual recordings of a victim's statement perhaps taken at the scene of the incident it would be very strong evidence which may result in earlier pleas and improve the efficiency of our criminal justice system."
Mr Hinchey said the technology had been trialled extensively in the UK and US in domestic violence cases and in some instances had sparked a significant jump in early guilty pleas from offenders.
However, he said some victims may have privacy concerns over being filmed in their own home while they were vulnerable.
"That could be a problem, we don't want people being hesitant to report crime for that reason."
"It would also require training of police to ensure they used the technology effectively and so the evidence obtained didn't prove inadmissable in court."
"I would like to see how the body-worn cameras project rolls out in NSW before taking a strong position as to whether it should be used in the ACT."
Civil Liberties Australia director Tim Vines said any rollout of body-worn cameras for police would need to be accompanied by a strict policy that covered how the footage would be accessed and stored.
Mr Vines said lawyers would also need to be guaranteed of equal access to complete recordings of domestic violence incidents so the footage could also be used in the defence case.
