They make all-out effort to end the ATO's damaging and disruptive industrial dispute before a federal election is called.

Mr Jordan will be going to ATO sites around the country in an effort to sell a slightly revised enterprise agreement to a still skeptical workforce which rejected the previous offer by a crushing margin of 85 per cent in December.

But Tax Office executives believe they have done all they can, within the government's hardline public service bargaining policy, to present a more attractive offer this time.

They hope the personnel intervention of Mr Jordan, who has previously been at arms-length from the negotiations, will get their new offer over the line when it goes to a vote on April 29.

But they are still up against stiff resistance from their workplace unions, with the Community and Public Sector Union confirming on Thursday that it was opposing the revised deal and the smaller Australian Service Union having already made its position clear.

The national charm offensive will see Mr Jordan and his top lieutenants, second commissioners Geoff Leeper, Neil Olesen and Andrew Mills and acting chief operating officer Jacqui Curtis, running "sessions" at ATO offices all around Australia.

The new deal drops the demand for ATO public servants to spend an extra 45 minutes each week at their desks, a $300 annual health and wellbeing allowance is reinstated and rolled into base salaries and part-day travel allowances are also back in.

Provisions that had been stripped out of the previous proposed agreement in the key areas of rostering, training and performance management will now be included in a response to staff feedback.

The pay offer remains the same at 3 per cent up-front with 1.5 per cent increases in each of the two following years.

The Tax Office's new approach in recent weeks has also included a fresh media strategy and an increased willingness to engage with union critics, particularly the small but outspoken Australian Service Union Tax Branch.

An email sent out to all staff last week took aim at the union's claim that Mr Jordan had walked away from his commitment to work-life balance for his public servants.

"In support of this commitment, the proposed EA provides a range of flexible working arrangements, generous leave provisions, access to part-time, job sharing, working from home – the list goes on," the email read.

"We also provide a range of tools to make it easier for our staff to achieve a balance between work and personal commitments, such as iPhones and iPads and remote access (VDI).

"We strongly refute any suggestion that we are not committed to work/personal life balance."
