A large shed, caravan and vehicle were allegedly set on fire after thieves stole a firearm and ammunition from a property near Canberra.

NSW police said emergency services were called to a property on Nerriga Road at Durran Durra, near Braidwood, after reports of a fire about 4pm on Thursday.
"Police and Rural Fire Service personnel attended and found a large shed, along with a caravan and a vehicle, well alight. The fire was extinguished; however, significant damage was caused," police said in a statement.
"During a canvass of the property, it was discovered that a number of shipping containers, caravans and cars had been broken into. A firearm, ammunition and other items were stolen from the property."
Officers found a safe, believed to have been stolen from the property, at Molongolo Gorge via Sutton about 12.30pm Friday.
"An investigation into the incident is underway and police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward," police said.
