RSL Queensland is disappointed an upgrade to Brisbane's Anzac Square will not be ready by Remembrance Day, as originally proposed.

A $21.98 million upgrade to Anzac Square was announced in 2014.
The fourth stage - involving a new entrance, more grass and seating - of the joint Queensland government and Brisbane City Council restoration project began in May.
Information on the project timing available on the council website said “Stage 4 works began in June 2018, with the majority of works to be completed by Remembrance Day, Sunday 11 November 2018. The remaining works will be completed by early 2019.”
A council spokesman said poor weather had delayed the works and it would not reopen until December 2018.
RSL Queensland president Tony Ferris said it was disappointing the commitment to have Anzac Square works finished by Remembrance Day had not been honoured.
“We are dismayed about not being able to welcome an extra-large crowd at Queensland’s war memorial to commemorate the Centenary of Armistice,” Mr Ferris said.
“We will be pulling out all stops to ensure that it is commemorated appropriately.”
The Remembrance Day ceremony will now be restricted to the Ann Street level of the square.
The upper level on Ann Street can accommodate up to 5000 people and RSL Queensland will erect tiered seating and a shade structure.
A council spokesman said the commemorative service would still be held on Remembrance Day from 10.30am at the Shrine of Remembrance.
“Ann Street will be closed to all traffic to allow people to attend the service and honour those Queenslanders who have served their country in conflict and in peace,” he said.
“Council continues to liaise with RSL Queensland as works progress on the fourth stage of the Anzac Square restoration project, which will improve accessibility and enhance the memorial once complete.”
Anzac Park opened in the 1930s and was paid for by individual donations from the public.
