Hundreds of men and women have gathered outside Parliament House in Brisbane to remember young Melbourne comedian Eurydice Dixon who was raped and murdered last week.

Vigil organiser Yolanda Robson said 200-300 people observed five minutes of silence on Thursday night to remember Ms Dixon and the other victims of gender violence in Australia this year.
"The intention was for Brisbane to come together, breathe, have a time of quiet reflection and pay their respects to Eurydice Dixon and the other victims of gender violence this year," Ms Robson said.
"There were posters, flowers and pretty much everyone was holding a candle to light the way home for those to didn’t make it home.
"I think this was a fitting tribute, I think Brisbane women needed this opportunity to come together and see how many allies there were, and it was not just women there, men were there tonight too.
"We [women] shouldn’t have to take up less space in our city to stay out of harm’s way, we ask men to listen, respect us and be our allies."
South Korean student Eunji Ban, 22, was killed in Wickham Park on her way to work at the nearby Transcontinental Hotel in Brisbane's CBD on November 24, 2013.
During the trial, the court heard Alex Reuben McEwan was responsible for Ms Ban's death after leaving his Spring Hill home that night “looking to kill someone”, but he was ruled unfit to stand trial because he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Less than six months later, 21-year-old French student Sophie Collombet was raped and murdered in Kurilpa Park, on the banks of the Brisbane River.
She died on March 27, 2014 on her way home from Griffith University and Benjamin James Milward was sentenced to life behind bars in 2016 after pleading guilty to rape and murder.
