The Bruce Highway was at a standstill north of Brisbane on Monday after a three-vehicle crash closed two northbound lanes and left a man trapped in the wreckage of his van.

Northbound traffic stretched back more than six kilometres to North Lakes just before midday.
Emergency services were called to the Narangba stretch of the highway, near the Deception Bay Road exit, about 9.45am.
Police said a truck hit a van and the van then hit a third vehicle.
Officers closed two lanes while firefighters cut the man out of his van. He was freed within 15 minutes of firefighters arriving at the scene.
The man was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition.
Police reopened the lanes about 12.30pm.
