Fire crews were called to Mount Beerwah after walkers spotted a fire on the mountain about 8.15am on Wednesday.
The fire was reported to be extinguished at about midday and all climbers evacuated safely.
Firefighters had located the source of the fire and were beginning their descent back down the mountain at about 12.30pm.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said they were liaising with Parks and Wildlife over the course of action for reopening the mountain, and it was not yet clear what started the fire.
SES crews were called to help evacuate 12 people from the mountain earlier in the morning.
A QFES spokeswoman at the time said there was no indication the walkers were trapped by the “isolated pockets of fire on the mountain”.
Fire crews were in contact with HQPlantations, an organisation that manages the mountain, to determine the best course of action, she said.
Mount Beerwah is the highest of the Glass House Mountain peaks, according to the state Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing website.
