A statement from Queensland Corrective Services confirmed the death of the woman, who was found by staff about 4.20am.

The woman was in a single cell in the residential area. Staff commenced CPR immediately and called an ambulance but the woman could not be revived.

Queensland Police were notified and a report would be prepared for the coroner.
