A brick has flown off a passing truck, smashing through a four-wheel-drive and narrowly missing an eight-year-old boy as it shattered a car's windscreen and rear window.
Three family members were inside the Toyota Landcruiser when the brick bounced up off the Warrego Highway near Miles, about 330 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, on Thursday and hit the car.
Police said the brick came off the back of a truck travelling in the opposite direction about 1.30pm.
The missile hit the front bonnet, smashed through the windscreen, tore the roof, crashed through the rear windscreen and dented the trailer behind.
It narrowly missed a 42-year-old woman in the front passenger seat and an 8-year-old boy in the back seat.
They were taken to hospital for the treatment of cuts from broken glass.
Police have appealed for any witnesses who were travelling in the area at the time to come forward and reminded motorists to secure their loads.
