The Katter’s Australian Party were ambushed at Queensland's Parliament House on Thursday after inadvertently holding a press conference next to university socialists.

The politicians stopped mid-speech and confronted the student protesters, which then turned into an ugly screaming match in full view of the attending media and members of the public.
The angry QUT Socialist Alternative members shouted anti-racism chants at the politicians and accused them of being a threat to Australia.
"Open the borders, close the camps, free the refugees," they yelled.
"Muslims are welcome, racism is not.
"Children are dying because of your racist policies - you have blood on your hands."
State KAP MP Nick Dametto fired back with: "Go have a shower mate".
His parliamentary colleague, KAP MP Shane Knuth, was more direct: "Lucky you got the cameras around, mate."
The media conference was held just metres from the main entrance of the QUT Gardens Point campus.
Federal MP Bob Katter also got up close and personal with the protesters' leader.
The politicians retreated into the sanctuary of Parliament House and moved the press conference into the courtyard.
"The powers retreating behind parliamentary doors ... typical," the protesters yelled.
Police arrived shortly after and stood guard at the front door of State Parliament as the protesters dispersed and returned to their nearby stall.
The press conference later resumed within the safety of parliamentary walls.
Party leader Bob Katter continued to attack both major parties over Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk's decision to strip the KAP of extra staff over its support for Senator Fraser Anning's "final solution" speech.
"It [the Premier's decision] is extraordinarily stupid, when we run third in most seats in north Queensland, except for the ones we’re going to win next time," he said.
"Those Labor blokes in north Queensland, except for one, are all on about 33 per cent. They’re there because of preferences."
Mr Katter re-emphasised the power he and his fellow MPs held in Queensland's regional electorates which he said were "hanging by a thread".
Mr Katter's son, state party leader Robbie, said there had been no response from the CCC after the KAP referred Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and three members of the LNP opposition to the state's corruption watchdog over the decision to cut the party's extra staff.
“We’ve been overwhelmed with support in our offices and we’ve already had to start talking to constituents from right across Queensland, particularly western areas, who are asking for help," Robbie Katter said.
"We are simply saying we don’t have the capacity to help you all now .... they’re the troubling conversations we’re having to have."
The KAP members thanked voters for making financial donations to the party in the wake of the premier's announcement at the Labor State Conference in Brisbane on Sunday.
