A 50-year-old man has died in hospital after he was severely burnt while trying to put out a fire outside his home in Ipswich, Queensland.

Police said the suspicious fire had started outside the Robertson Street home at Eastern Heights between 11pm and 11.30pm on February 22.
Emergency services were called to the Robertson Road home about 11pm on Friday to find the front porch, patio and fence were on fire.
The 50-year-old occupant tried to put it out when he saw the flames and ultimately received burns to his legs.
The man was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition but died six days later on Thursday.
Police and fire authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
