Surf Life Saving Queensland teams have performed multiple rescues on the Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, including saving a surfer who crashed into rocks at Dicky Beach.

Meanwhile, North Stradbroke Island's Main Beach was forced to close due to dangerous surf conditions.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Harry Clark warned Queenslanders to keep their umbrellas handy as weather conditions would remain the same on Saturday afternoon and Sunday.

"Overnight we did see some patchy rain areas develop and thunderstorm activity as well," he said.

"There was around 20 millimetres of rainfall around metro areas with the north-west suburbs like Upper Kedron received 48 millimetres.

"Mitchelton saw 33 millimetres and Brisbane City had 12 millimetres."

Mr Clark said the rain had moved offshore but there was still scattered showers across south-east Queensland.

"There is a chance of thunderstorm but given that there's been patchy rain, it is likely that more shower activity will creep in," he said.

Mr Clark said the chance of showers and thunderstorms would still be lingering on Monday.

"It's not until Tuesday where things will settle down," he said.
