Thunderstorms and showers on the way for south-east Queensland

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Harry Clark warned Queenslanders to prepare for a gloomy Saturday and Sunday, with 10 to 30 millimetres of rainfall likely across the state's south-east.

"At the moment we have slight patchy areas pushing into the west and as we go into the evening we'll see areas of rain from Toowoomba continue into the east," he said.

"There's a chance of a thunderstorm today and tomorrow with some rain."

Mr Clark said rain would be most likely on Saturday morning before a clear afternoon with showers at the end of the day.

"There will be less showers on Sunday but will remain cloudy," he said.

"There will be some locations which will be looking pretty cool and it will be 22 degrees in Brisbane.

"The weather will warm up on Sunday with a max of 25 degrees."

Mr Clark said Queenslanders could expect a  repeat of last weekend's weather.

"After Riverfire it was raining quite heavily across south-east Queensland, reaching about 10 millimetres of rain, and this weekend will be similar but vary with how much rainfall we'll receive," he said.

Mr Clark said rain would continue into Monday and Tuesday with more chances of storms.

"The chance of a thunderstorm will be most likely inland but it is something we'll keep an eye on," he said.
