Brisbane-bound traffic at a crawl on gridlocked Bruce Highway

Motorists heading back to Brisbane after the weekend have been battling about 30 kilometres of crawling traffic on the Bruce Highway for most of Sunday after an earlier accident.

Police said while debris from a three car pile-up at Beerburrum at 10.45am was quickly cleared, heavier than normal traffic meant motorists quickly came to a near-standstill from Burpengary back to Coochin Creek.

Police said there were no other accidents on the highway affecting traffic conditions.

The Australian Traffic Network said other arterials were heavily congested as drivers tried to find alternative routes.

There were also heavy delays between Bald Hills and Deagon.
