The Great Barrier Reef will get a funding boost in next month's state budget, taking the government's investment to a record $330 million over five years.

Announcing the new funding on Langford Island in the Whitsundays, Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said the funding would go towards programs to restore and protect the Reef.
There will be $40 million in new Queensland government funding, including $26 million in extra funding over four years for the Joint Field Management Program, which would allow rangers, in conjunction with the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, to expand their work in maintaining island and marine ecosystems.
There will be $13.8 million over the next four years to extend the Queensland Reef Water Quality Program to reduce sediment, pesticide and fertiliser run-off from graziers, cane and banana farms, with access to professional advice.
Ms Palaszczuk said the Reef supported tens of thousands of jobs.
"We know how important this Reef is for tourism and jobs and how important it is not just to Queensland or nationally but internationally," she said.
"People come from all around the world and coming here we've been able to see the charter yachts, business is picking up and considering just over a year ago we had Tropical Cyclone Debbie come through here, the resilience of this community, the resilience of the tourism sector, is something that I want to thank them for, but also too one that we're more than happy to continue working with to grow the sector here for many, many years to come."
Ms Palaszczuk encouraged people to holiday in the Whitsundays to show a bit of "love and support" for the community, which had been doing it tough since Cyclone Debbie in March 2017.
The Turnbull government has allocated half a billion dollars to the Great Barrier Reef, including $444 million for the Great Barrier Reef Foundation.
But Ms Palaszczuk said there was no business case for the federal funding.
The World Heritage area is the largest living structure on the planet, but it has been decimated by coral bleaching and pollution, losing up to half of its coral cover in the past 30 years.
Environment Minister Leeanne Enoch said she met with cane farmers on Tuesday about a water quality project.
"They recognise that not only is any run-off that comes from their farms or that ends up in the Great Barrier Reef, it's not a good thing, and they don't want to contribute to that," she said.
"But what happens, if they do see that run-off, is that they lose money themselves."
