Treasurer Jackie Trad, of Lebanese background, had accused LNP deputy leader Tim Mander of a racist slur when he called her the "Comical Ali of the Queensland Parliament" on Tuesday, complaining about her management of the economy and her downplaying a recent CommSec report.

Iraq's former information minister Mohammad Saeed al-Sahhaf, known as "Comical Ali", kept broadcasting until the last minute while Baghdad was being destroyed around him during the invasion of Iraq in 2003.

Ms Frecklington accused Ms Trad of confecting "mock outrage".

"Tim Mander is one of the most decent men in the Queensland Parliament, he has my full support," she said.

"She is trying to cover up from the fact that the Queensland economy is in the doldrums and that's exactly what Tim Mander was talking about."

Asked if the remarks had a racist undertone, Ms Frecklington replied: "Absolutely not."

Questioned about whether she might have been offended by State Development Minister Cameron Dick likening her to Kim Jong-Un, earlier this year if she had Asian heritage, Ms Frecklington said she "didn't go on about it".

"I didn't make a big song and dance about it, I chose to rise above it," she said.

"I get comments thrown at me by the Labor Party each and every day, I've chosen to rise above it, I'm not going to get down into the gutter with a senior government minister and his comparisons of me with a dictator."

On Tuesday, Ms Trad immediately raised a point of order in the Parliament, saying she found Mr Mander's comments alarming and personally offensive.

At a press conference later in the day, Ms Trad said Mr Mander should apologise, and called for Ms Frecklington to sack him.

"There are so many other references that Tim Mander could have thought of to make his point but he chose a racially-based reference in relation to my performance," she said.

But Mr Mander also criticised what he described was Labor's "mock outrage".

"Weak as water they are! Weak as absolute water," he said in Parliament.
