Maverick Liberal National Party backbencher Jason Costigan has been suspended from the party, after a complaint alleging he harassed a woman.

It is understood a complaint was made to the party on Friday and Mr Costigan was called in to explain himself at the weekend, before he was suspended.
A woman complained to the LNP that Mr Costigan allegedly harassed her 18-year-old daughter after she returned to her grandparents' home, where he was staying temporarily, and found him shirtless.
Mr Costigan had arranged to stay at the property while on a holiday. The grandparents had left early in the morning and Mr Costigan was alone at the home when the 18-year-old arrived later in the day.
News Corp has reported that Mr Costigan denied the allegations.
Mr Costigan will be suspended until the LNP state executive meets on Friday, February 1, when he could be expelled.
If expelled, Mr Costigan would join the crossbench at the first sitting of the Queensland Parliament for 2019 in less than two weeks.
LNP acting president David Hutchinson said he did not intend to canvass the detail of the complaint.
"The decision to suspend the party membership of a sitting MP is a very serious one and has not been taken lightly," he said in a statement.
"The LNP expects its elected representatives to uphold at all times the highest standards.
"I thank the LNP's parliamentary leader Deb Frecklington for making it very clear that she sets a very high bar for members of her future government.
"The party's leadership wholeheartedly supports this position."
If the LNP was to lose a sitting MP to the crossbench, Labor's majority over the opposition would be strengthened.
Attempts were made to reach Mr Costigan for comment.
Ms Frecklington said she set high standards for her team.
"Jason Costigan has failed to meet those high standards," she said.
"Mr Costigan doesn't have the morals and the values to be part of my team.
"Integrity and trust are everything to me."
Ms Frecklington said she had demanded strong action from the LNP following the complaint against Mr Costigan.
"The LNP has acted strongly," she said.
Mr Costigan was branded a "sleazebag" by Deputy Premier Jackie Trad after he posted a video of himself on a beach with two tourists wearing bikinis on World Bikini Day in 2017.
He unsuccessfully challenged for deputy leadership of the LNP in 2017.
Mr Costigan holds the seat of Whitsunday on an extremely narrow margin of less than 1 per cent.
