Cricket ACT officials were forced to review the make-up of the Twenty20 Cup finals after Weston Creek Molonglo appealed the interpretation of the net run rate ruling which denied them a place in the top four.

Ginninderra finished fourth but held their breath when Cricket ACT referred the matter to the premier cricket board, who ultimately backed the governing body in deeming the Tigers eligible for the finals.

Ginninderra will face Western District-UC, while Tuggeranong Valley will meet ANU at Phillip Oval on Sunday. The winner of each semi-final will advance to the final under lights that night, with a major opportunity awaiting the victor.

The competition winner will be bound for Adelaide for the National Premier Twenty20 championships, an added incentive to get their hands on the title.

"We played quite a lot of good cricket but also some cricket probably wasn’t quite where it needed to be. As far as the wait goes, I was always confident it would come through on our end," Ginninderra captain Rhys Healy said.

"We’ve played some cricket that wasn’t as good as it could have been, but we have played some good cricket and we deserve to be in the top four.

"We are doing pretty well [as a club]. To get six from six throughout all six teams on the weekend was a great performance. It’s the goal the club has each week, obviously it’s great to have success in first grade but a big thing we push is having success from the top to the bottom."

A first grade finals appearance in the shortest format means Ginninderra are on a collision course with Wests for two consecutive days - in the two-day Douglas Cup on Saturday, and in the Twenty20 finals on Sunday.

Healy lauded Wests as the competition benchmark and knows if the Tigers are to advance to the national championships, they will have well and truly earned their spot.

Cricket Australia has launched a 10-team competition to pit the winner of each state and territory's premier Twenty20 competitions against each other, with NSW and Victoria's runners-up also gifted a spot.

The national Twenty20 competition will be contested at Adelaide's Karen Rolton Oval on March 5-6, with planning underway for a women's tournament next season.

"The idea of winning a flag is probably more important to anyone playing the competition than the idea of going to Adelaide, but obviously should that circumstance arise, we’d obviously love for it to be us and we will work as hard as we can to make it happen," Healy said.

"It’s a great opportunity to go down there and test ourselves against some really good quality teams from across the country, and really good players from some of these bigger cities. It’s something that is pretty exciting."
