The pair were towing a five-metre vessel in the far north Queensland tourist haven on Tuesday when the poorly tied down boat slid off the trailer as they turned a corner.

In a pun-filled online post, Constable Matt Cornish said officers set about moving the obstacle.
"Police could knot [sic] believe what they were seaing [sic]," he wrote.
"Police were unshore [sic] how to move the boat so they contacted a local crane operator who reely [sic] wanted to help out. With the help of his piers [sic] the crane operator managed to get the boat off the ground back to the trailer.
"After everything was all tidied up officers decided to give the owner and his friend a stern talking [to]."
Police said it was fortunate no one was injured and reminded boat owners to secure their vessels.
