It's a good thing she likes flying, because rather than celebrating her Canberra Classic triumph long into the night, van Dam is in transit for the best part of two days on her way home.
Van Dam carded six under par in the third round to finish -17 and clinch the Canberra Classic in comprehensive fashion at Royal Canberra Golf Club on Sunday.
As soon as the rising star from the Netherlands sunk the winning putt to finish three shots clear of Slovenian hopeful Katja Pogacar just before 4pm, the race to the airport was on.
The 23-year-old needed to race through the post-tournament formalities, sign autographs and pose for photos with adoring kids and adults alike, receive a warm cheer from club members and desert the course by 5pm.
"I'm on a plane home in two hours," van Dam said.
But even the hasty nature of the final day would not take away from the elation washing over van Dam following her landmark title win. Nothing ever could.
"Winning is the best feeling in the world," van Dam said.
"It was pretty close but I just needed to keep trusting in myself and believing in how good I am, and just basically let it happen. It was really nice for it to happen this way."
A healthy crowd was on hand to watch van Dam wrest the Canberra Classic crown away from the clutches of third-placed South Korean superstar Jiyai Shin.
Among the onlookers was Canberra Raiders coach Ricky Stuart - and van Dam had linked up with Jordan Rapana and Ryan Sutton in the Pro-Am just days earlier.
There is no doubt the Raiders will be hoping to replicate van Dam's success as they go hunting for a return to the NRL finals this year - but their journey to silverware is yet to truly begin.
The rising Dutch star on the other hand has another title to her name and she is setting her sights on adding plenty more by the end of the year.
She boasts a stroke classy enough to make any rival jealous - so good that even a ball landing almost directly under a golf cart on the 17th hole wouldn't halt her run to victory.
Van Dam admits that stroke may not exist if not for a gamble she took about two years ago, switching coaches in a bid to take her game to the next level.
"Of course it was a tough decision to switch coaches some time ago, but it was definitely worth it. I just felt I needed to change a couple of things. The decision is starting to pay off now," van Dam said.
"I'll be home for about two weeks before the LPGA starts. I have a full season on the LPGA ahead of me, but it's really nice to get a win early before I go to Europe."
With the sizeable Canberra Classic trophy in tow, van Dam can now set her sights on realising her next dream: a spot in the European Solheim Cup team.
