Taxpayers will fork out an extra $103 million after the cost of dozens of Department of Health IT projects blew their budget.

The total cost of the department's ICT projects rose by 19 per cent from its original budget of $530.95 million to a revised estimated cost of $634.49 million.
The information was listed on the state government's publicly available ICT dashboard, which was launched by the former Newman government in 2013, following two audits and an inquiry sparked by the Queensland Health payroll debacle.
LNP Health spokeswoman Ros Bates said $100 million could be used to deliver 75 new hospital beds or ice detox and rehabilitation facilities.
"But instead it is being wasted on IT cost blow-outs," she said.
Ms Bates called for Health Minister Steven Miles to accept personal responsibility for the increased costs.
"It's back to the bad old days of the health payroll blow-outs that cost taxpayers over $1 billion and left nurses underpaid, overpaid or not paid at all," she said.
"Instead of changing hospital names, Labor's Health Minister should be managing the health budget, reducing wait times and ending hospital ramping."
Among the projects was a spatial database to support the response to the risk of dengue, zika and chikungunya virus outbreaks in north Queensland and mitigate risks across central and southern Queensland, which was originally estimated to cost $852,000 but was revised to $1.5 million.
The cost of a Health Support Queensland project, the Integrated Workforce Management Project stage one, was expected to rise by 250 per cent to $28.71 million, instead of $8.2 million.
The IWMP was described as allowing extra functionality within the existing rostering and payroll business, partnering with hospital and health services to develop refined business processes to support the roster-to-pay process and training.
The project was originally due to take nine months and finish in November 2016 but that was extended to August 2018.
The ICT dashboard said the IWMP's scope changed and it had experienced a delay.
A project through eHealth Queensland, which included upgrading all PC operating systems, with centralised update management, and preparing Queensland Health applications to run on new operating systems, was expected to cost 174 per cent more at $38.74 million, instead of $14.10 million, with a "scope change" also listed.
Some of the 66 IT projects were forecast to cost less than they were originally budgeted, or remained unchanged.
Mr Miles said costs could vary because new technology or functionality became available during the course of the project, which clinicians wanted to use to improve the safety and quality of care.
"In older hospitals, unforeseen infrastructure costs can arise which must be managed," he said.
Mr Miles said the implementation of digital hospitals, and the IT projects that helped make them happen, were making Queensland hospitals safer.
"The digital transformation of healthcare improves wait times, patient outcomes and is more cost-effective in the long run," he said.
Earlier this month, Fairfax Media revealed the cost of Corrective Services' IT project, the electronic transfer of court results phase three, more than doubled in cost.
