Skipper Meg Lanning is far too wise to assume Australia's presence in next month's ICC Women's World Cup final at Lords is a fait accompli, despite the six titles her country has already won.

But the 25-year-old, on the verge of captaining at her first 50-over World Cup, has been smart enough to let her mind wander to the realms of what it would mean to lead her nation out at the home of cricket.
It's only ever fleetingly – she doesn't want to tempt fate or let a hint of complacency creep into her mindset or that of her team's, but Lanning knows if the 15-player squad lives up to its limitless potential then they will find themselves at Lord's on July 23.
Lanning and her squad will wear their country's proud cricketing history proudly throughout the tournament in England, but refuse to believe what's gone before gives them a divine right to progress to the final.
Coach Matthew Mott has challenged his charges to write their own page in history, and that's exactly what Lanning's side plans to do.
"That's something we've spoken about as a group, making sure that we do create new history and we don't go in with what's happened in the past," Lanning said.
"We have been very successful at previous World Cups over a number of years. Once it comes to the tournament this year, that doesn't really count for anything.
"Everyone starts on zero points and everyone's out there to win the World Cup, just as we are. That's our mindset.
"That's got us in a really good head space off the field to go out there and really making sure we take the game on and trying to create some history of our own."
Lanning certainly has plenty of tools at her disposal, none more refined then herself who became the greatest female 50-over centurion of all time earlier this year when she blasted her 10th international ton.
A fully fit Ellyse Perry scored a century against New Zealand in Australia's first warm-up game and will also harbour plenty of responsibility with the new ball.
The veteran Alex Blackwell is still a run machine while potential debutants Sarah Aley and Belinda Vakarewa add plenty of pace to the versatile bowling battery.
"That's a real strength of the squad that we do have these players coming in and adding a new skillset but we've also been able to add some experienced domestic players as well," Lanning said.
"Sarah Aley has been a strong performer at domestic level for a number of years and it's great to see her get her chance at such a big event.
"She's come into the squad and slotted in really nicely and is a really good person to have around on and off the field.
"I'm really happy with the squad that we've got and I feel like we've got good variation in there which is important as well."
Australia begins its World Cup campaign against the West Indies on Monday morning local time, the nation that vanquished them in last year's Twenty20 World Cup.
It opens a gruelling seven-week pool stage where all eight teams play each other once before the top four advances to the semi-finals.
They'll be played at Derby and Bristol before a date with Lord's awaits the victors.
"There's no doubt that I'd love to be in that position and that the team would love to be in that position," Lanning said.
"That's what we're setting out to do. We need to make sure that you play well in the group stage first off.
"If you don't put the performances on then, you're not going to get where you want to.
"We're pretty focused on just the first game to be honest against the West Indies and making sure that we play well there and then we'll move on.
"It's pretty important to stay in the moment and not think too far ahead. That can be dangerous sometimes."
