Canberra Raiders fullback Zac Santo will join the New Zealand Warriors as the clubs work to finalise the details of an immediate release from the Green Machine.
The Warriors are keen to add Santo to their back line to bolster their depth for the remainder of the NRL season.
The 24-year-old has played just two games since joining the Raiders last year after playing a back-up role to Jack Wighton.
But shifting to the Warriors could help Santo secure more game and a regular opportunity, despite the Warriors boasting star fullback Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.
It's believed the Raiders are set to pave the way for Santo to move across the Tasman in the coming days as part of the mid-year player transfer system.
The Raiders re-signed Wighton earlier this week, keeping the 24-year-old in lime green until at least the end of 2020.
The Raiders are working to keep the bulk of their squad together with a host of stars set to be looking for new contracts at the end of next year.
But their immediate focus is making sure they get their NRL season back on track after snapping a three-game losing run last weekend.
Former Raiders playmaker Mitch Cornish has been added to the Sydney Roosters' bench for their clash at Canberra Stadium on Sunday.
Cornish played 15 games for the Raiders after making his debut in 2014, but he hasn't played in the NRL since 2015.
"It will be good to see Mitch get a run," said Raiders captain Jarrod Croker.
"He's been playing pretty strong footy for Wyong so it's good to see him get a crack back in his old home town. I'm sure he'll have plenty of fans there as well."
The Raiders have won six of their past eight games against the Roosters in Canberra. The Raiders have won 12 of their past 15 games at home against any opponent and they will go into camp at the Canberra airport before kick-off.
"If we can get a win this weekend and get the ball rolling, that would be good," Croker said.
"We don't want to look too far ahead ... we've got three games now going into a bye so we definitely want to build some momentum.
"The Roosters are a top four side, you don't become a top four side if you don't have depth. They've got plenty of depth so we're definitely not taking anything for granted."
