The Swifts staged a remarkable fightback in the third quarter turning a six-point deficit into a four-point advantage before New Zealand international Laura Langman took control late on, allowing star shooter Caitlin Bassett to propel the Lightning to a fourth-straight win.

It was the third-straight week the Swifts threw away a fourth-quarter lead, after last round's narrow derby loss to the Giants which followed a one-point nail biter against the Magpies.

"It's definitely starting to become very frustrating for us as players, we know we've got the goods to finish off games especially when we're four goals up," Swifts captain Abbey McCulloch said.

"The fact that we haven't done that over the last two weeks is becoming quite frustrating. We know we are a project and we're getting better every week.

"We're still turning up to training and working hard and we know that if we continue to put the hard work in it's going to come. We as players are just looking for it to come a little bit faster than what it has.

"We've got six rounds to go and we'll push for some wins in those next six rounds and hopefully we can maybe scrape into the top four."

Next weekend's Easter bye has come at the perfect time for the Swifts, and precedes a crunch home game against the Melbourne Vixens - defeat in which would deliver a telling blow to the club's finals chances. NSW sit four points adrift of the fourth-placed Magpies.

Bassett was her typically efficient self on Sunday nailing 38 shots from 41 attempts, using all of her 193cm frame to dominate underneath the ring.

But she didn't have it all her own way and young gun Sarah Klau held her own for long periods against the star Diamond.

A tactical half-time switch by coach Rob Wright instigated his team's stirring fightback, with Paige Hadley moving to centre and Claire O'Brien coming on at wing attack.

The Swifts managed to curb Langman's influence in that third quarter, but she bounced back strongly when the game was in the balance.

"I thought probably late again we went away from those things that got us in good positions," Wright said.

"You can almost see that we run on top of each other and we get quite long in attack and then our movement stops. When we do that we get in some strife, and they're such a good side they can punish you.

"It's about making sure we stay in the moment and just keep sticking to those things when it's going well, and doing it for not only a quarter.

"We keep building that stuff but it's a work in process.

"They contested us and it's good because we have to find ways to cope with that under some pressure and that's something we're still looking for."

Sunshine Coast coach Noeline Taurua said she'd fully expected a strong third quarter from the Swifts.

"Knowing the statistics and what we'd done in regards to prep, we know that the Swifts would come out really strong in the third quarter and it's something that they're synonymous with," Taurua said.

"We made a change there defensively we went tight, man on man. That puts the emphasis back on individual skill level and I think we were able to get the roll on once again, get momentum and we were able to secure the ball."
