The Giants plan to be active during the AFL Women's trade period but coach Tim Schmidt admits the club may struggle to attract talent to Sydney given the part-time nature of the competition.

A trade period will likely be held in May and Schmidt said the Giants were keen to improve their playing list following his team's one-win season, which ended in a 32-point loss to the Western Bulldogs in Canberra on Saturday night.
GWS Coaching staff will sit down with the players this week for individual post-season reviews before Schmidt and his team cast an eye over the seven other AFLW clubs to consider potential trade options.
But Schmidt expected attracting interstate talent would be a challenge.
"Because it's still part-time and because the money isn't quite there, it does make it tough for players to move interstate. It's a really big commitment by them," Schmidt said.
"You look at Brisbane and the majority are from Brisbane; you look at our team and we've got 19 from NSW or the ACT.
"It does make it a little bit more difficult to trade with the Melbourne clubs or anything like that but it's not to say that it can't happen.
"We will also have a look at the other clubs and what their players have to offer and what we think would really complement the Giants and then just see what happens from there.
"At every club, you want to try and build that core group and then have players come in around that.
"There's a fair chance that we may re-sign the majority of them which is obviously great to have such a large group back again. They understand what us coaches are trying to teach, they understand the game plan, and things are then easier for other players to come into the side."
AFLW playing lists are likely to expand from 27 to 30 for the second season, while clubs will be allowed to re-sign around 20 players before the next draft, which will be made up of unsigned free agents and new players.
The Giants' sole win this season came against third-placed Melbourne and they also managed a thrilling draw with Fremantle but still finished bottom of the ladder.
"I don't think we're too far off," Schmidt said. "At the start of the season it wasn't talking about wins and losses - it was about improving and developing.
"We can match it in patches and we can beat them [the best teams] in patches but then at the same time we've got a lot of work to be done."
The Giants threw caution to the wind in the final quarter against the Bulldogs on Saturday, trailing by 16 points at the final break, but were unable to overcome the deficit in front of their home fans at Manuka Oval.
"It was a little bit like the other games in our season, there were some fantastic passages of play and a great half of footy from us and then when we take the till off for a little bit as well, that's when other teams really capitalise," Schmidt said.
"The last quarter was basically a bit about rolling the dice. We were 16 points down at that stage and needed to kick three goals.
"I just said to the girls basically leave nothing in the tank, give it your all. If we did lose by 10 goals it doesn't matter, just have a go, and they did.
"We probably just didn't capitalise as much as we could but there effort was there which is exactly what I asked."
