Dal Pos was forced to leave the ground early in the first quarter after Davey wrapped up both arms and tackled her smaller opponent to the ground, leaving the speedy youngster with no feeling in her left arm and sporting a black eye.

She returned to the field to deliver a best-on-ground performance for the Giants, kicking a goal in her team's much-improved 13-point loss to the Blues.

The match review panel examined the tackle and deemed that "Davey's actions were not unreasonable in the circumstances", given the Carlton player had both hands on the football as Dal Pos thudded into the ground.

"Initially it was a stinger, I couldn't feel my left arm so it was a little bit of panic stations," Dal Pos said.

"I have a medical background so when I couldn't feel my left arm I was like, 'just calm down, it could be you've just landed wrong, you'll be fine'. But then the longer I laid there I was like, 'nah this really hurts, I could be in strife'.

"Then when I sat up and went back to the bench with the doctor and he sorted me out I was just like, 'yeah you just panicked hardcore, you're fine'.

"It was one of those ones where I lost my balance, couldn't get my arms out and introduced my face to the ground. Bree [Davey] is very, very, very strong and the way that I picked up the footy, I had both hands on it so my arms got pinned.

"She didn't intend to drop me on my head or anything like that; the way she tackled me I lost my balance and fell on my face."

Dal Pos has declared herself fit to play Fremantle this weekend at Blacktown International Sportspark, where the Giants hope a first home game of the season will translate into a first win.

Saturday's effort against the table-topping Blues was a hugely improved showing that yielded five goals, four more than the first-round thumping at the hands of Adelaide, where Phoebe McWilliams' fourth-quarter shot was the Giants' only major.

"Round one was super disappointing, we weren't happy with that and it was a good kick up the bum," Dal Pos said.

"The week leading up to round one was super emotional, I didn't even realise how much it meant to me until I ran through the banner and got a little bit overwhelmed.

"We went away and worked really really hard at specific areas through the week and that showed on Saturday.

"We came out with a much better understanding of what we need to do in terms of game plan and how to support each other through a crowd of 10,000 people."

Meanwhile, the NSW government has committed $480,000 to secure the marquee game of the AFL's multicultural round in western Sydney over the next four years.

GWS will host the game over the period to coincide with the multicultural festival in western Sydney.

"The AFL's commitment to diversity and inclusion in sport is one of our key strategic pillars and nowhere is this more prevalent than western Sydney," AFL NSW/ACT chief Sam Graham said.
