BBL franchise the Adelaide Strikers announced on Tuesday that Keath would play for them this season.

The allrounder was listed with the Victorian Bushrangers and BBL team the Melbourne Stars before he lost his contract this year.

He moved to South Australia hoping to revive his cricketing career, but the Crows also showed an interest in him on the chance he may want to return to football.

Keath had been listed by Gold Coast as a 17-year-old and was considered a promising key position player, but at that time chose to pursue cricket instead.

The 23-year-old is now in the enviable position of having been made a category B rookie with the Crows and having access to their training facilities, even though club officials know cricket remains his sport of of choice.

Adelaide confirmed no changes would be made to its arrangements with Keath following his signing with the Strikers.

He has been playing for Prospect District Cricket Club, averaging 104.33 in the West End Premier Cricket competition.

South Australian Cricket Association's Tim Nielsen said Heath would add depth to the side.

"There's no question Alex has an enormous amount of talent and he's already shown that he's in great form with some brilliant performances opening the batting for Prospect," he said.
