Former ACT Comets all-rounder Blake Dean did damage with both bat and ball, taking 4-14 before scoring a quick-fire 43 to lead his side to an easy six-wicket win against a disappointing North Canberra Gungahlin in their semi-final at Stirling Oval on Sunday.

Weston Creek Molonglo will face Wests/UC in the final on February 1 after its 57-run win against Queanbeyan at Jamison Oval.

Dean was a regular part of the Comets program for the past few years, but hasn't been picked this season as part of the new partnership with Country Cricket NSW.

Only a handful of players from the ACT first-grade competition are regulars in the Comets team, with the preference at those players young enough to capable to progress to first-class level.

Dean, 27, has shaken off his omission to be a key addition to the Weston Creek line-up, especially in the limited overs format.

The return of older brother Jono Dean from his duties with the Adelaide Strikers for the Gallop Cup final will add to what is already a formidable side.

"It's our strongest format so we should be alright," Blake Dean said.

"We'll get Jono back and if we bowl as well as we did today, we'll be OK.

"Saying that, Wests/UC will be tough and everyone's building towards the end of the season."

North Canberra Gungahlin lost early wickets, with pacemen Djali Bloomfield (2-28) and Michael Delaney (2-30) making inroads with the new ball.

English import Joe Leach provided the only resistance with a well-made 58, but his team's total of 140 was never going to be enough on a flat wicket.

Opening the innings, Dean made light work of the run chase before the experienced Cade Brown (52) guided the middle order towards the target, finishing at 4-143.

North Canberra Gungahlin was attempting to add another piece of silverware to its cabinet after winning this season's regional Twenty20 competition.

ACT/NSW Country under-17 opener Blake McDonald scored 80 and Joe Cooke made 62 as Wests/UC posted 8-237 from its 50 overs.

Queanbeyan never got going in its run chase, Adam Hewitt taking 3-23 to help restrict the Bluebags to 180.
