A severe weather warning is in place for the ACT and a large section of NSW, with the Bureau of Meteorology warning heavy rain may lead to flash flooding during the early hours of Thursday morning.

The warning says “a rain band with embedded thunderstorms is expected to move slowly across the southern and central inland parts of New South Wales.”
The warning is for the Snowy Mountains, South West Slopes and ACT forecast districts, as well as parts of the Southern Tablelands, Central West, Riverina and Lower Western forecast districts.
By midday on Thursday it is expected to extend to the parts of the Central Tablelands, Upper Western and Illawarra forecast districts
The State Emergency Service advises that people should not attempt to walk, ride a bike or drive through flood water and to keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
If trapped by flash flooding, the SES advises to seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
