Labor is talking down the prospects of supporting the government's revived "big stick" energy legislation when parliament resumes.

Energy Minister Angus Taylor is working on plans to bring back to parliament laws compelling power companies to cut wholesale prices and guarantee supply.
He says it will be a priority for the sitting in July - the first since the coalition's May 18 election win.
Having failed to get it through the minority-held parliament in March, the coalition will have a majority in the lower house and a less hostile Senate.
Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese poured cold water on the "big stick" laws passing.
"That's a slogan, not a policy," he told reporters in Canberra.
The Electrical Trades Union said Queensland would be hard hit if the laws passed, as it would leave the state's electricity assets open to privatisation.
The union called on Labor senators and crossbenchers to again block the laws.
Queensland's Liberal National Party opposition leader Deb Frecklington also railed against the laws in March saying she would "not stand idly by and allow anyone to forcibly sell Queensland's assets".
Asked whether he accepted the government's mandate on climate policy, Mr Albanese said the coalition had had 14 policies on energy and climate and adopted none of them.
"We'll wait and see what they come up with - I'm not aware of what their policy on climate change and energy is, because it changes every day," he said.
Nationals MPs plan to push for more investment in coal-fired power, including a plant in north Queensland.
They also want Victoria and NSW to develop the gas sector in order to push down prices for households and manufacturers.
Mr Taylor was sworn in as energy and emissions reduction minister on Wednesday.
