Thieves who cut and stole live powerlines in Narrabundah over the weekend put their lives at risk and the community in danger, police say.

Electrical infrastructure had also been stolen during the incident, but a police spokesman said they did not know when the thefts took place.
Talks are under way between ACT police and Evoenergy over the incident.
The ACT police spokesman said the thieves were putting their lives at risk by stealing the wires while they were live.
"Coming into contact with live powerlines can result in serious injury or death and put others at risk by leaving exposed and damaged infrastructure," the spokesman said.
"Only individuals who are authorised and accredited by Evoenergy are permitted to approach powerlines and electrical assets.
