Former Labor senator Sam Dastyari has been issued a formal caution but avoided a fine for riding a green share bike on the footpath en route to testifying at an anti-corruption probe into suspect party donations.

Mr Dastyari on Thursday arrived at the Independent Commission Against Corruption in Sydney on a Lime bike and wearing a helmet.
He rode along the Elizabeth Street footpath before stopping outside the ICAC building and speaking to reporters, gesturing wildly with the helmet.
However, the state's road rules indicate cyclists older than 16 are banned from riding on the footpath unless working as a postal officer, accompanying a child rider or transporting a child on a bike trailer.
The maximum fine for breaking the rule is $2200.
A NSW Police spokeswoman on Friday said Mr Dastyari had spoken to patrol officers and received a formal caution.
No further police action is expected, she said.
"Update on #bikegate. I spoke to NSW Police about briefly riding on the footpath and have been cautioned not to do so again. Sleep well Australia," Mr Dastyari said on social media.
ICAC is examining whether Huang Xiangmo - who is now banned from Australia - was the true source of $100,000 said to be donated by 12 people at a 2015 Chinese Friends of Labor dinner.
Mr Dastyari - a former state party general secretary - was drawn into the scandal this week by now-suspended Labor boss Kaila Murnain who said he advised her in 2016 to tell the party's lawyers about the alleged donations.
