A former security guard at an orthodox Jewish community school in Sydney has faced court after being arrested as he walked free from a Victorian prison.

David Cyprys, 51, was extradited to NSW to face historical child sex charges.
He appeared via audio-visual link in Sydney's Central Local Court on Thursday, accused of sexual assault with an act of indecency on a person under the age of 16.
Police allege the assault occurred in Bondi during the 1980s.
Cyprys was arrested after leaving a prison in Ararat, in the Victoria's southwest, and taken to Ballarat Local Court for an extradition hearing on Wednesday.
Detectives escorted him to NSW and he was placed in custody at Sydney's Mascot Police Station about 6.45pm on Wednesday.
Cyprys previously worked as a security guard at Yeshivah College in East St Kilda, Victoria.
In court on Thursday, Cyprys did not apply for bail and it was formally refused.
His matter will come to court again on October 24.
