Both sides defeated the Western Australia Steel in the two first round matches, showing the competition they are forces to be reckoned.
Heat women's star Danusia Sipa-Borgeaud said her team needed to improve despite beating the Steel.
"We were the only team to win our opening two games...but there's always something to work on," Sipa-Borgeaud said.
"We're going to focus on our serving, we had a few service errors at crucial points of the match that didn't help us in the long run."
Danusia is one of four Borgeauds playing for Canberra this season, with sister Matisse playing alongside her and cousins Nic and Andre on the men's side.
"It's absolutely awesome having your family on the court," Sipa-Borgeaud said.
"A lot of people know the Borgeaud name...we're all quite competitive but we each bring our own individual skills to the sides."
The women's team hopes to build on their bronze medal from last year, with their side being bolstered by a number of key players returning including Volleyroo Jenny Tait. The men's team finished second last year and will be hoping the experience of Olympian Travis Passier can inspire them to a first league title since 2015.
