Socceroos midfielder Jackson Irvine has been promoted to captain Hull City for the remainder of the second-tier English Championship season.
Jackson has replaced Eric Lichaj, after his season-ending ankle ligament injury earlier this month.
The Australian has had two games with the added leadership responsibility - a 3-0 loss to Blackburn Rovers and a 4-4 stalemate with Swansea City.
He downplayed the significance of his new role at a club languishing in 17th place, a dozen points outside the playoffs after 33 games.
"One player wears the armband, but it takes more than that in the dressing room to keep a group together," Irvine told the Hull Daily Mail.
"We have got very capable and intuitive players who are capable of doing that."
Jackson, who has scored two goals in 32 appearances this campaign, had served previously as vice-captain.
The 26-year-old has also captained Australia at under-20 and under-23 level.
