ANU professor Tim Bonyhady's book The National Picture: The Art of Tasmania's Black War has won the biennial Tasmanian Green Family Award for Tasmanian History. The prize is administered by the University of Tasmania. In 2018, Bonyhady and Greg Lehman and Tim curated the touring exhibition The National Picture: The Art of Tasmania's Black War for the National Gallery of Australia.

Canberra author Zoya Patel and Human Rights medalist Yen Eriksen have released a new six-part podcast, Margin Notes, sharing the stories of marginalised communities and exploring intersectional issues through the power of memoir. Margin Notes can be streamed through iTunes and Spotify, with new episodes released weekly.

The Huddle
Penguin Random House Australia has launched an online book club called The Huddle to connect readers with authors on Facebook. On Fridays from 3pm to 4pm a Facebook post will go up featuring the book of the week. Readers will be encouraged to comment on the post and discuss the book. Julia Gillard
July 15: Former prime minister Julia Gillard co-authored Women and Leadership with development economist Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. In this virtual ANU/Canberra Times Meet the Author live event at 6pm, Gillard and former governor-general Quentin Bryce will discuss the book, sharing the experience and advice of some of our female leaders in their own words. It will be introduced and chaired by Vice-Chancellor and President of The Australian National University, Professor Brian P. Schmidt.
