Cricket ACT has joined forces with CDC Data Centres to launch the new T20 competition, which will provide extra matches for players part of the sporting body's pathway program.
The Canberra Bash model is based off last year's successful Female T20 Bash and will have representative teams play across six divisions.
These include under-12/13 males, under-14/15 males, under-17/19 males, female pathway cricketers, senior men and a mixed ACT Meteors, senior women and under-16 boys competition.
Matches are scheduled to take place from October, culminating in a finals gala at Manuka Oval in January.
Cricket ACT's pathway program has mainly consisted of skills-based activities. High-performance manager Olivia Thornton says the Canberra Bash will help bridge the gap between training and competitive match environments.
"There will be a few skills-based sessions that will lead into a game. It's bringing that theory to life in the game scenario," Thornton said.
"This partnership with CDC has allowed us to expand the female T20 concept we introduced last year right across our pathway.
"That's allowed us to actually bring the skills and things we try in the training environment into a competitive situation.
"To have kids playing at Manuka Oval will be great."
All matches except for a handful in the under-17's to under-19's competition are going to be played in a T20 format.
The senior men's competition is an expanded version of last year's All Stars 4 Mental Health match, with two teams to meet in a tri-series.
