If you've got a smart speaker in your home and want to hear local news first when brewing your morning coffee then this is how you set it up.
Google Home
You can hear The Canberra Times latest headlines on demand through your Google home device.
For example you can ask:
- "OK Google, what's the latest news from The Canberra Times?"
- "OK Google, play me The Canberra Times Today."
You can also set The Canberra Times as your default news provider. This will play the latest Canberra Times news whenever you ask Google "What's the latest news?" or will form part of your briefing if you ask "What's my day like today?".
To update your default news provider on Google Home:
- Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi or linked to the same account as your Google Nest or Home speaker or display.
- Open the Google Home app .
- At the top right, tap your account.
- Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your Google Home or Google Nest device. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
- Tap Assistant settings Services News.
- Add or remove news sources. You will see our news feeds under the "local" category.
Amazon Echo
You can listen to The Canberra Times' latest headlines on demand through your Amazon Echo, Echo Plus or Echo Dot device.
To add The Canberra Times to your Alexa Flash Briefing simply ask "Alexa enable The Canberra Times Today" and then our latest update will play whenever you as "Alexa, what's the new?"' or "Alexa, what's my Flash Briefing".
To change the order of your Flash Briefings
- Go to the menu in the Alexa app on your mobile phone
- Navigate to Settings
- Scroll down to the Alexa Preferences section
- Select Flash Briefing
