The Panthers booked a place in the NRL preliminary final with a one-point over the Sydney Roosters last Friday and await the winner of this week's Parramatta-South Sydney elimination final.

Tetevano was part of the Roosters' 2018 title victory and was last year gifted Robinson's ring after he made way in the line-up for Jake Friend after playing 24 games through the season.

While he has that one in safe-keeping, his first one was buried in late 2018 with his grandfather William, who raised him in New Zealand.

"I'm not going to lie, I kind of visualise those moments," the 29-year-old said on Monday.

"But then I have to pull myself back.

"I passed my '18 one off to my grandfather who passed away back in 2018 which I'm proud of and in 2019 my coach Trent Robinson gave me his ring.

"This one will be very special to me, so I'm looking forward to it, but I don't want to look too far ahead."

Squeezed out by the salary cap at the Sydney Roosters, Tetevano landed at the Panthers this season and despite leaving a dual premiership-winning club, could see he was on to another winner.

"I could see the boys at training, and their enthusiasm, with the training staff and the coaches, I knew that this was a great team," he said.

"It was pretty easy to come here.

"It's a work in progress but I knew it was great and I'm glad to be here."

Despite his finals experience, Tetevano said he was nervous himself heading into the Roosters match, rather than handing out advice to his young teammates.

"Although I've been a part of a couple of finals series I still get nervous so I don't know how to get past it - you just have to help each out.

"But that's what this team does well."

But Tetevano said the Panthers needed to do more in the preliminary final to secure a grand final berth.

With 42 missed tackles he said their defence needed to improve, as well as their start after letting the Roosters get out to a 10-0 start.

"We were excited to win that game but everyone looked at each other knowing we've got more and everyone was keen to get to training on Monday to work on it."
