One is the pre-eminent administrator of cricket in the ACT and Queanbeyan for the last 60 years, and the other is the most prolific player the region has ever seen.

So it's no wonder Ian McNamee and Peter Solway are set to be immortalised at their beloved Queanbeyan District Cricket Club.
McNamee's name will now forever be attached to the club's Freebody Oval pavilion, while the ground's scoreboard is to be named after Solway - Cricket ACT's all-time leading top-grade run scorer with a staggering 9817, including three centuries and a top score of 339.
And true to form, the indefatigable pair are not slowing down.
At 76 years of age and on the verge of a second hip replacement, McNamee, patron of the QDCC for more than 35 years, has been assisting the club in getting council approval to build a female amenities block next door to the pavilion.
Solway, meanwhile, has recently retired and keeps himself busy by preparing the wicket Queanbeyan uses at Brad Haddin Oval.
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council voted on Wednesday night in favour of a new building at Freebody Oval to cater for women's sport. It'll mark the club's second major construction in the past decade, with McNamee having overseen the development of the new clubhouse in 2012.
"The moment you stop still you've gone backwards today with amenities, we need to continue to go forward," McNamee said.
"Everywhere we looked around Canberra there were new facilities being built, we had Kingston Oval, we had Stirling, everybody when they saw them were just in awe of it. Now they're in awe of what we've got here.
"We're now looking to do an extension to facilitate women's sport. That would mainly be in the winter time, we could also cater for women's sport, both league and even if there was a rugby union carnival for women as well, that's the big picture of getting this done.
"The council are very much on side with what we're trying to do here, provide the top facilities to cater for everybody today in 2021."

McNamee and Solway were two of the key pillars in the Queanbeyan club's resurrection in the mid-2000s.
On its knees financially and struggling badly on the field, McNamee took over as president of the club and one of his first order's of business was bringing Solway back into the fold.
The pair helped rebuild the district's oldest club on and off the field, and it remains one of the strongest in the ACT competition to this day.
Queanbeyan's first grade side is now captained by Solway's youngest son Mark, who scored a double century before Christmas, while his eldest son Dean is also in the team.
"They're both good players and have had good journeys in their own rights," Solway said.
"Cricket's opened a lot of doors. I've got great memories, I've been really lucky, right time, right place for a lot of things, from the Comets, to second XI stuff to Country Championships, even the over 50s cricket.
"I've been really lucky and I'm really lucky with my health that I'm able to keep playing as well."
Solway was captaining the Australian over-50s team in South Africa in March just as the COVID-19 pandemic began to take hold.
"Playing Sri Lanka, we bowled, they got about 180 and we were walking off the field they said guys, just gather around, there's an announcement to be made," Solway said.
"The tournament organiser came over and said effective immediately the tournament's off. I don't think we even had lunch it was like, get on the bus back to the motel and try to get flights to get out of there. It happened that quick and I was on a flight the next morning."
Solway said McNamee's influence over cricket in the region was still substantial, despite his stepping down as chairman of Cricket ACT in 2016.
"He's a cricket tragic, passionate for the club, he loves it, he's been a great supporter of the club for a lot of years," Solway said.
Queanbeyan will be aiming to win the Twenty20 title on Sunday. They're one of four teams alongside Western District, Weston Creek-Molonglo and Ginninderra who will contest the finals day to be played at Phillip Oval.
