The Coalition of Major Participation Sports (COMPS) have welcomed the ACT Greens' proposal to develop a new facilities management plan, which was set to be presented in the Legislative Assembly.
Basketball ACT has felt the pinch of a court shortage since COVID-19 restrictions eased.
"We've had 95 new junior teams start competitions this season alone, and an additional 24 senior teams," Simpson said.
"That equates to about another 80 to 100 hours of court time required just to play our competitions.

"Already at capacity, we have waiting lists for teams to play and we have clubs at the point of turning players away."
Greens spokesperson for sport and recreation Jonathan Davis is determined to "build a better normal" for community sport in the region.
"My motion makes good on the commitments we've made to community sport," Davis said.
"Community sports provide not only physical activity but also social, emotional and mental connection to community and to others. It's so important that we support that."
