The suspected murder-suicide at Inverell in northern NSW is being investigated by police but is believed to be domestic violence-related. The couple's daughter is recovering in hospital from multiple stab wounds.
The 21-year-old woman was rushed to Inverell hospital in the early hours of Wednesday, after she was discovered seriously injured with her 50-year-old mother off Glen Innes Road.
The 50-year-old woman was found with critical injuries after being stabbed multiple times and died at the scene.

Police had been alerted to reports of a stabbing and rushed to the location just before 2.20am to find the injured women.
Officers began searching for a man, who they believed was connected to the incident, initially making a public appeal for information just before dawn.
Investigations led them to a property on the edge of town and they moved in about 7.45am.
There, police discovered the man's body at the home off Kings Plains Road.
They have confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police from across the New England including detectives and forensic officers spent the day on Wednesday scouring the crime scenes off Glen Innes Road, as well as the Kings Plains Road property.
New England police remained tight-lipped about their investigation and the circumstances leading up to the double stabbing, and the man's death on Wednesday.
Senior police refused interview requests but said investigations were continuing, and the evidence would be compiled and put before the state coroner who would rule on the cause of deaths.
"All three are known to each other," a spokesperson for police said. "A report is being prepared for the information of the coroner."
