ACT Sportsgrounds were shut across the territory on Friday afternoon wreaking havoc with local competitions, some of which were forced to abandon scheduled fixtures.
The closure of venues will prevent Eastlake and Ainslie from celebrating the first ever Pride game to be played in the AFL Canberra competition.
Clubs will be contacted early next week as the league looks for a solution to postpone, rather than cancel the round, which would potentially allow the pride match to be played at a later date.
"From our point of view when Eastlake approached us, we certainly jumped at the opportunity, we think it's a great initiative," Ainslie coach Jordan Doering said this week.
Eastlake women's captain Catherine Brown said her club had been looking forward to wearing pride jerseys this round.
"Coming to AFL football a little bit later in life, I was struck by what a welcoming community it is," Brown said.
"This weekend just further echoes that sentiment that our clubs in particular, but also our greater sport is a welcoming sport for anyone regardless of how they identify or where they fall within our community.
"Nothing could be truer, as I said, of my own experiences, not only of myself personally but also the greater group I know."
