Chief Minister Andrew Barr says he is confident NSW will take a responsible path out of its lockdown, rather than letting the virus rip once half the state's adults receive a dose of a Covid vaccine.

Mr Barr said it would be "just crazy" for NSW to end restrictions once a 50 per cent vaccination rate had been reached, and this had not been considered at national cabinet.
"It worries me that there is this speculation and suggestion in the media that that's what's going on. That's got to come from somewhere; there's someone backgrounding and it's really, really concerning and alarming," Mr Barr said.
The Chief Minister told Radio National he took some comfort from Premier Gladys Berejiklian's comments inside national cabinet that the state would take a measured approach to ending restrictions.
"There's no suggestion of a freedom day, UK-style at 70 per cent, and yet some of the media coverage would suggest that's what's going to happen. No one has agreed to that," he said.
"It's very clear in the national cabinet position and it's clearly the view of the majority of states and territories that once we reach that 70 per cent vaccination level, there is a gentle step forward but it is a gentle step, it is not a free-for-all at that point."
Mr Barr declined to comment on the positions of other states in the Friday morning radio interview, saying he was focused on what he needed to do in the ACT.
"The ACT is more exposed to NSW, obviously, than any other jurisidiction, as they entirely surround us," he said.

"I have views, I've put them in national cabinet, and I think that's the most effective way that we can endeavour to work together as a nation to address the challenges that we're facing.
"And we try, and it's not always easy, but we try to work collectively and in the best interests of Australians. It's not always straight forward and there are always a variety of views, and I appreciate the anxiety that other jurisdictions have about some of the commentary we hear out of NSW.
"But what I hear inside the national cabinet room gives me a greater deal of comfort that NSW are going to take a responsible path here."
National cabinet will meet at 1pm on Friday.
