Clara Tauson has claimed more success in her breakthrough WTA season with victory over Jelena Ostapenko in the final of the Luxembourg Open.
The 18-year-old Dane upset the defending champion and 2017 French Open winner 6-3 4-6 6-4 after two hours and three minutes of pulsating tennis.
Tauson, who beat US Open champion Emma Raducanu in a WTA Challenger final in Chicago last month, took the first set without facing any break points.
Ostapenko started to land winners in the second set, breaking her opponent in the seventh game before she eventually forced a decider.
Another break early in the third appeared to open the door for the 24-year-old to defend the title she won in 2019.
However, Tauson's consistency came to the fore and proved decisive.
She instantly broke back before Ostapenko became erratic and a double fault at a critical time was followed by several wayward backhands.
It ensured Tauson sealed a second WTA 250 title having won the Lyon Open in March with her ranking set to rise to a career-high 52nd.
