A core of England's squad, including Burns, captain Joe Root, Jimmy Anderson and Ben Stokes touched down in Brisbane last week where they remain in hotel quarantine.

The rest of England's squad will fly in after the T20 World Cup in preparation for the first Ashes Test at the Gabba on December 8.

Burns, who averaged 39 in the last Ashes series and registered a career high 133, said he hoped to use the conditions and experience of facing the likes of Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to his advantage.

"A lot of places I've gone (as a tourist) have been spin friendly," he said.

"From that aspect it (Australia) probably suits my skill set. The conditions we get at home are seamer friendly and I like pace on the ball.

"Out here with the Kookaburra that initial stage is very important, there are times it can be difficult for bowlers if you get it right.

"It's about being able to adapt to those conditions, absorbing pressure and trying to re-apply it when you can.

"It's obviously a very good bowling attack with two spearheads. They don't give you a lot of bad stuff and they are pretty relentless when they get it right.

"I've been able to play against them before and I've got a good picture of how they operate."

Currently averaging 32.3, Burns has formed part of an England top order that has been more miss than hit since Alastair Cook's retirement in 2018.

They have often wilted under pressure and relied on Root's prowess to dig them out of a hole.

Question marks remain, and this year alone Burns has endured five ducks across eight Tests.

The left-hander did notch a cool 132 against New Zealand at Lord's, but England are still searching for the perfect recipe.

They may have found it, with Burns believing his new-found partnership with Haseeb Hameed can pay dividends for the tourists.

"In recent times, we haven't scored as many runs as we'd have liked," he added.

"The conditions have been interesting at times and we've faced some very good attacks as well. We always see it as a challenge to put our best foot forward.

"It was good fun (opening with Hameed). In weird ways we probably do things slightly differently as a partnership.

"It's worked quite nicely. If we pick back up where we left off last summer it'll probably be a good thing."
