Patty Mills's stellar NBA season keeps getting better with the Boomers captain playing another strong hand in Brooklyn's 110-105 win over Minnesota.
The Nets guard added 23 points and three assists to play the major support act to Kevin Durant, who scored a game-high 30 points as they held off the Timberwolves in New York.
The Nets won for the 14th time in 17 games on a night when the officiating crew called a combined 56 fouls.
Durant shot nine of 18 from the field and made 12 of 13 free throws.
He also grabbed 10 rebounds and handed out six assists in a game that featured 26 lead changes. Durant's biggest shot of the night also provided the final margin.
The Nets held a 108-105 lead after a free throw by James Harden with 40.7 seconds remaining.
On Brooklyn's next possession, Durant drained a difficult 15-foot fadeaway with 11.3 seconds left to secure the win.
"I was able to get to my spots in the fourth (quarter) and knock some in," Durant said.
Mills's tally included a go-ahead three-pointer with 4:09 remaining that put Brooklyn up 103-101.
The Golden State Warriors ended the Phoenix Suns' 18-game winning streak and reclaimed the top spot in the Western Conference, riding a long-range barrage led by Stephen Curry to a 118-96 victory in San Francisco.
Curry finished with an equal game-high 23 points, a majority coming on six of the Warriors' 19 3-pointers to hand the Suns their first loss since October 27.
The win was the Warriors' 11th straight at home.
In winning for the eighth time in their past nine games and improving to an NBA-best 19-3, Golden State led most of the way.
Phoenix fell to 19-4 while playing a second consecutive game without leading scorer Devin Booker.
In Atlanta, the fast-finishing Philadelphia outscored the Hawks 20-9 in the final quarter to post a 98-96 win.
Joel Embiid hit a jumper with 42.8 seconds remaining to cap a game-ending 7-0 run to finish with 28 points and 12 rebounds.
The visiting Los Angeles Clippers held on for a 119-115 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in the first meeting of the season between the intracity rivals.
Marcus Morris had a season-high 21 points for the Clippers.
Anthony Davis scored 27 points with 10 rebounds for the Lakers while LeBron James had 23 points with 11 rebounds after missing Tuesday's contest at Sacramento while in COVID-19 protocol.
The Houston Rockets romped to their fifth consecutive win, beating the Orlando Magic 118-116.
The visiting New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-91 and the Utah Jazz downed the Boston Celtics 137-130 in Salt Lake City..
There were also wins for Miami, who defeated Indiana 113-104, and Cleveland over the Washington Wizards 116-101.
