Frustrated Meteors players will play as much men's cricket as possible over the next month to stay sharp for their delayed Women's National Cricket League season, which resumes on February 15.

Last Sunday's rescheduled match against NSW was called off due to positive COVID cases in the Meteors camp, meaning their thumping loss to the Breakers three days prior to that remains the only fixture they've played so far this summer.
In-form tweaker Amy Yates, whose four wickets against the Breakers provided the Meteors' only bright spot in a 207-run loss, is one of several squad members who have been playing in the men's second grade competition this summer.
Yates and her Meteors teammates also play in the newly-minted four-team women's first grade competition, which resumes on February 13.

"We will look to just keep doing what we're doing and just try and stay ready," Yates said.
"We're hoping to get a couple of centre wicket practice games in, we haven't had any centre wicket practises yet.
"It's really frustrating. You get hyped up to go again and we were all pretty disappointed about our efforts against NSW. We all wanted to play them again and kind of make things right.
"There's not much you can do about it, unfortunately, it's not up to the players. If we can't field sides then it's probably a good thing we have to wait a bit longer."
Postponed fixtures have underpinned this summer's stop-start WNCL, which for a second season in a row was subject to multiple delays due to COVID.
Yates made the most of her one opportunity earlier this month, capturing four NSW wickets, but the Meteors were bowled out for just 53 in reply.
"That's the worst I've seen our team play. I've never seen us that poor in the field and that poor with the bat," Yates said.
