Twenty-one people are in hospital, with seven of those being treated for virus symptoms. Both figures have fallen by one from Sunday.

One person remains in intensive care.

Fourteen people with the virus are in hospital for unrelated medical conditions, the state health department says.

The 1037 new cases, made up of 727 self-reported positive rapid antigen tests and 310 PCR tests, are a slight rise on the 825 reported on Sunday.

Tasmania has 6365 recorded active cases, with 1157 people being allowed out of isolation in the past 24 hours.

The state's active case figure has fallen each day since peaking at 8764 on January 12.

Liberal state government minister Michael Ferguson indicated he was confident people were reporting positive RAT results as required.

"But we always take the opportunity to encourage people ... you need to contact public health if you have symptoms, you need to get a test," he told reporters on Monday.

There are 37 positive cases staying in community management facilities, while 372 people are using at-home care.

Mr Ferguson said the state government would release more details about students' return to the classroom on February 9.

Premier Peter Gutwein has previously indicated term one will be begin as planned on that date.
